James Bond author meets and greets fans in Preston

Signing: Jeffrey Deaver at County Hall

Signing: Jeffrey Deaver at County Hall

Bestselling author Jeffrey Deaver delighted fans with a book signing in Lancashire.

The American crime novelist appeared at County Hall at an event arranged by SilverDell bookstore in Kirkham.

He was there to sign copies of his latest book, The Burning Wire, give a talk to readers and answer their questions as part of his UK book tour.

It was the second time the former lawyer has visited County Hall for a signing - and SilverDell co-owner Elaine Silverwood says he plans to return.

She said: “It was an incredible event with a really good atmosphere.

“We had well over 100 people come and it was a really good night.

“Jeffrey loves coming to our events and loves the council chamber venue.

“He is a very prolific author and a natural speaker.

“He has been chosen to write the new 007 book.

“It is anticipated for May next year and wants to come back with it.”

Deaver has written two collections of short stories and 27 novels, including The Bone Collector, which was made into a Hollywood film starring Denzil Washington and Angelina Jolie.

And earlier this year he was selected to write the next James Bond novel.

His books have been translated into 25 languages and sold in 150 countries.
