He started riding bikes when he was just two-years-old and now motocross star, Nez Parker, is taking on the world’s best this weekend.
The Leyland lad, now 25, will be appearing at one of the countries newest national motocross series’ when the MX Nationals UK takes over Preston docks.
Nez, who has won many local club championships and has been the north west centre champion many times, first got into the sport after seeing his two older brothers race.
He said: “I saw them do it and my dad was always into it so it was just a natural thing for me to get into. I started racing when I was six but my brothers packed it in when I started beating them!”
Since moving to the adult’s competition, Nez’s best results have been coming third in the Redbull Pro Nationals Championship and taking second at a British championship as well as a few podium finishes.
And now he also trains young riders to compete.
He said: “There is no feeling that compares to racing, it is totally addictive.”
During the event, which takes place across Saturday and Sunday, there will be six different categories of riders from all over the UK and Europe, ranging from the under 15s all the way up to professional races.
Nez said: “If you have never watched motocross before you can expect a lot of exciting, close races with big jumps on a fast bumpy track. If you follow the series it’s a great chance to come down and meet your favourite riders and cheer them on. There’s been nothing on this scale in Preston before, everything has been revamped.”
The event will take over Preston docks MX track for the whole weekend with races starting from 12pm onwards on Saturday and 10am onwards on the Sunday. It will be a great family day out with trade stands and food available. You will find the track at Riverside Park, Wallend Road,
