Panto fun: Ted Robbins and Jodie Hamblett in Teds first panto production at the Charter, which was also Cinderella

Christmas has come early this year for the Guild Hall.

Charter Theatre bosses have announced that their 2013 festive panto is to be Cinderella – and they are already working on putting it together.

For the fifth year running, Phoenix Nights and The Slammer star Ted Robbins will again be at the helm, writing, directing and starring as Baron Hardup.

And they have even chosen some of the stars, with comedy duo The Harper Brothers and Shameless, Coronation Street and Life on Mars star Jodie Hamblett in the title role.

The Harper Brothers, the sons of veteran comic Bobby Ball, played Silly and Billy in 2012’s offering of Jack and The Beanstalk but will now be The Ugly Sisters. And there will also be a live band – and even real ponies to pull Cinders’ carriage.

This will be Ted’s fifth panto since he took over and he has broken box office records each year.

The first show he produced at the Charter was Cinderella, with Hamblett as Cinders, and the fairytale has great significance for him. The last time his late father, a theatrical impressario, ever saw his son perform was in Cinderella.

Ted said: “I have very happy memories of Cinderella.

“It’s got everything for a perfect pantomime – and I can’t wait to see the Harper Brothers as the Ugly Sisters!” Cinderella runs from Tuesday December 3 to Tuesday December 31.

Tickets are on sale now from the box office on 0844 844 7710 or online at www.prestonguildhall.com.
