UK’s best-loved children’s authors scour the country for storytellers
Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post
Two of the country’s best-loved children’s authors are searching for the finest storytellers in the land.
To commemorate World Book Day, creator of Horrid Henry, Francesca Simon and Lauren Child, acclaimed author of the Ruby Redfort are urging the people of Preston to submit videos of the most skilled and passionate storytellers they know.
The winner will be the person who shows the special panel of judges that they can bring stories to life – from acting out characters, using different voices and filming in unusual locations, to dressing up and using props or playing games with the words to get others joining in the performance.
The 2013 Storytelling Superstar competition opens today and will run until February 11.
Lauren Child said: “There are so many wonderful storytellers hidden away in Preston’s homes, schools and libraries.
“We’re looking forward to being inspired by entries and seeing how they create excitement around story time.”
To take part visit the special Storytelling Superstar page at www.worldbookday.com.
The winner will be revealed on World Book Day celebrated on March 7.
