Blackpool High School Musician of the Year 2008 Adam Simpson is one of only seven finalists in a prestigious nationwide student composer competition.

The former Bispham High School student, who is now in his first year at Blackpool Sixth Form College, has successfully taken part in several local music competitions, gained one of the music prizes at his high school and played in the BBC3 Pianothon at the Bridgewater Hall, in Manchester.

With his eyes firmly set on a career in the music industry, he has now been selected as one of only seven youngsters in the Film Music category of the Sibelius Student Composer of the Year 2008 – and he needs your help to achieve his goal.

Using your home computer, you can vote for Adam on line by going to www.sibelius.com/competition/student_composer/2008/index.html or just Google Sibelius Student Competition 2008 where you can hear his music.

Scroll down to the Film Vote Now category. Scroll down to the first entry (Adam Simpson) and click to vote for Adam.

If Adam is the overall winner for his category, he will have his film music played at the British Film Institute and receive a master-class with one of the star judges.

The shortlisted pieces were judged by famous names in the music industry such as Lord David Putnam (film producer) Michael Price (lead music editor on Lord of the Rings) and Dario Marianelli (Oscar-winner for Atonement).

Only votes from home computers will count. No multiple votes allowed.
