Head and neck cancer support
A NEW support group for people in Sheffield and Barnsley with head and neck cancers is being launched next week.
Hundreds of people in the city and town are affected by a variety of diseases that can cause facial disfigurement as well as speech, language and swallowing problems.
The new support group set up by Barnsley and Sheffield hospitals will give people living with rare cancers the chance to meet others, talk to specialists, and find out more about living with the condition.
Gail Coggins, Ear Nose and Throat nurse at Barnsley Hospital, said: "We have both young and old patients who can access general cancer support but nothing for head and neck cancers specifically."
The support group is being held at the Burton Street Project, Burton Street, Hillsborough, Sheffield.
The first meeting is on Friday January 16, starts at 2pm, and runs for an hour.
