Danger blinds at museum
PARTS of Preston's flagship museum have become health hazards in need of urgent repair, it has emerged.
Town Hall chiefs are to spend nearly 80,000 on an emergency replacement for dangerous falling blinds at the landmark Harris Museum.
Preston Council's cabinet nodded through the hefty outlay for urgent replacements in three of the museum's galleries.
The 78,000 project was approved after fears were raised someone could have been injured at the Flag Market building.
The defective blinds were removed after one of them came crashing down in the past month.
The blinds must be repaired by early in the new year because a major exhibition 'Paradise' is due to come to the museum on January 26.
Cancellation of the event over safety issues would harm the museum's reputation and cost thousands of pounds.
