A chance for indie band talent to shine

Independent music promoters and venues in Blackpool have got just a day to nominate their favourite artists for the INDY Music Awards 2008.

Having focused on London in 2007, this year sees the awards celebrate independent music across the UK.

Independent promoters and venues have until tomorrow to nominate their favourite artist.

From Friday February 1 until March 31, the public will then vote to whittle down the shortlist until a panel selects the final nominees.

In order for Blackpool to be in with a real chance of being represented and being in with the chance of having a local band triumph on the night of the ceremony, local venues and promoters have to nominate at www.indyawards.co.uk before Thursday.

Two hundred venues and promoters (none from Blackpool and the Fylde) have already registered for this year’s awards, while organisers are keen to encourage even more to register and nominate their favourite independent artists that have impressed them over the last year.
