The Black Horse in Friargate is the only pub in Preston to make it into this year's Good Pub Guide.
Although the pub goers bible mentions over 20 pubs in Lancashire the Black Horse is the only one in the city which is singled out.

The 25th anniversary edition of the Good Pub Guide says it is a "friendly and interesting pub with unusual, ornate, curved and mosaic-tiled Victorian main bar".

Landlady Sonya Walmsley, 32, runs the pub with business partner Keith Harrison, 56.

She said: "Obviously it is great this pub has been mentioned, but I would say there are plenty of other good pubs in the city which deserved to go into the book.

"I have no idea why we are the only pub in Preston mentioned – perhaps they have not researched the city properly!"

The Sun Hotel in Lancaster was one of a few Lancashire pubs to be given a full feature in the book.

The guide says the pub is "beautifully restored and extended over the last couple of years – both warmly traditional and comfortably contemporary".

But while it may be disappointing that more of Preston's pubs are not mentioned, a pint here costs an average £2.10 – the cheapest in the country.
