Published Date: 11 February 2008
After the overindulgence of Christmas and New Year this month's Tried & tested is on diet snack foods, for all of us who have vowed to go on a diet…..again!
Boots Shapers Ready Salted Crispy Disks
21g bag, 93 cals, 3.9 fat, 0.4 sats
These were light and crispy, however there was far too much salt on them leaving a burning feeling on the tongue. They weren't filling and would leave you
wanting something else afterwards.
Available from Boots
Score: 1 out of 5

Slim-fast Sour Cream & Chive Flavour Pretzels
23g bag, 96 cals, 1.9 fat, 0.2 sats
A full snack that won't leave you wanting more or something else, flavoursome without being over powering and a great alternative to crisps.
Available from most good retailers
Score: 4 out of 5

Apple Crings (apple crisps)
20g bag, 72.8 cals, 0.1 fat, 0.02 sats
Made from 100% apples and a great snack! Sweet enough to remove sugar cravings, but also crunchy like crisps! Light, healthy and guilt-free!
Available from Holland and Barrett and other health stores
Score: 3 out of 5

Snack a Jacks Salt and Vinegar flavour Crispy Rice and Corn Snacks
30g bag, 123cals, 2.3fat, 0.3sats
A dry snack with an overpowering flavour and rather a lot of calories for rice cakes!
Available from most good retailers
Score: 3 out of 5

Walkers Baked Ready Salted Crisps
25g bag, 98cals, 2.0fat, 0.3 sats
A very morish snack, that would make a fabulous healthier alternative to Pringles, great tasting and light.
Available from most good retailers
Score: 4 out of 5

Conclusions

You won't be missing out if you don't try the Shapers from Boots, but the Walkers are a great snack, with the Slim-fast Pretzels making a perfect alternative to crisps.
