The landlord of a former tanning studio wants to turn it into a takeaway.

An application has been submitted to Preston Council to turn the former Ashton Sun Centre on Blackpool Road into a hot food takeaway.

In an application, the landlord said the studio had shut due to “lack of business” and he had been unable to find a suitable replacement tenant.

It added there was “no interest” in the building in its current use, leading to the application for change of use from a retail business to a hot food takeaway.

The application, submitted by Penwortham-based chartered surveyors Jones and Company, said the area was “not already saturated by takeaways.”

It outlines proposals to minimise smells from any takeaway operating in the building and environmental measures, including the disposal of waste oil and ensuring food waste is removed in the correct manner.

A decision is due to be taken by planning officers at Preston Council under delegated powers within the next three months.
