Fashion show for the Guild
A fashion show to mark this year’s Guild celebrations will be held at 53 Degrees tonight. The Fairtrade fashion show has been organised in aid of the Guild Mayor’s chosen charities, Gift 92 and Integrate. Doors open 6.45pm for 7.30pm start. For tickets call 07813870641.
Man and child in flood rescue
A man and a child were rescued from a stranded car by firefighters after the vehicle became trapped in a flood. The incident happened in Bottomdale Road, Slyne, near Lancaster, at around 5.50pm on Monday. Firefighters said the man and the child were released from the car, which had become stuck in the water. The pair did not sustain any injuries in the incident.
Sentencing for financial thief
A financial adviser who admitted stealing more than £500,000 from his clients’ investments and his employers at a Preston law firm will appear in court this month. Stephen Smalley, 49, of Roe Lee Park, Blackburn, who worked at Forbes Solicitors, is scheduled to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on October 16.
City centre’s PACT meeting
The next Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting for Preston city centre will be held tonight. The meeting, where residents can discuss crime concerns in their area, starts at St Wilfred’s Parish Centre in Winckley Square at 6.30pm.
