Chekhov's landmark Russian drama Three Sisters launches the new season at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre from Wednesday, September 10.
This new production – in a translation by Michael Frayn – is directed by RET Artistic Director Sarah Frankcom.
Revolutionary, heartbreaking and poignant, the play revolves around the lives and dreams of sisters Irina, Masha and Olga. When their brother falls in love, it is not only the dream of a better life in Moscow that is put at risk, but the very roof above their heads.
Beth Cooke (Irina) made her professional debut in the Exchange's recent production of Children's Hour. This latest role was also played by her aunt, Niamh Cusack, when the Exchange last staged the play in 1985.
Emma Cunniffe (Masha) has previously been seen at the Exchange in Twelfth Night and Major Barbara.
Lucy Black (Olga) was last seen at the venue in Mary Barton.
It runs until October 11.
