On Sunday, October 12, the Continental pub, down by the Preston riverside, hosts a unique children's puppet show from a city-based theatre company.
The newly-refurbished hostelry's events space is being taken over by Dynamic New Animation, with their lauded show for the under-sevens, Chicken Licken.

This one-man show is a trilogy of classic tales from the Ladybird books – Chicken Licken, The
Little Red Hen and The Fox and the Hen.

Starting as a baking demonstration, the show rapidly becomes the adventures of a growing chick and her encounters with a hungry fox...

There are two performances on the day – one at 11am, and another at 2pm, both followed by a shadow puppet workshop where kids can get stuck into the action themselves.

Tickets and workshop places can be booked in advance and children must be accompanied by adults at all times. Information from the Continental, Preston Tourist Information Centre or on 01772 253731 (telephone booking fee).

The pub also has serval other upcoming events:

* Snake Davis Band, an exclusive performance from one of the most in-demand saxophonists around on Sunday, October 19

* Continental Oktoberfest – more than 100 beers at an inaugural beer festival from October 20-23.

* The Judgement of Mr Jenkins, award-winning theatre on November 1 straight from Second Nature Theatre Company's production at Buxton Opera House.
