Can a cinema and a local festival save the planet?
Starting today (Fri, Oct 10) as part of the One Planet Festival, the Dukes theatre in Lancaster is hosting film, drama and guest speaker events. Carbon Detox, tomorrow (Sat, Oct 11) is billed as the world's first stand-up climate change show withGeorge Marshall.

A series of films will be screened alongside the festival events. Manufactured Landscapes on Thursday, October 16, at 8.15pm, follows consumer products from their origin in China, to the West and back to China again.

Garbage Warrior (Fri, Oct 10) follows one man on his mission to build homes from discarded materials.

Award-winning documentary Who Killed the Electric Car? is screened on Tuesday, October 14 and What A Way To Go: Life at the End of Empire (Wednesday, October 15) is one man's personal essay about getting to grips with environmental meltdown.

The End of Suburbia next Thursday, October 16, tackles what the future holds for the sprawling expanse of Suburban America.
