Preston's musical talent has a new way to make it to the big time – and two of them are already taking the first steps.
That's the view of music producer Jon Livesley after watching more than 50 performers from the city appear at an X-Factor-style talent contest to launch his new record label.

He believes Fangberry Records, which has a studio in Brackenbury Road, Fulwood, can give up-and-coming musicians from Preston the chance to get their voices heard.

A procession of artists performed to a four-man judging panel including label executive producer Leigh O'Reilly, vocal coach Joe Martin and artists Donna Reed and Daniella Gallagher in the VIP area of the city centre Wall Street bar.

Fangberry Records, which started in April, has already been selling songs online and is in negotiations to sell music through media giant iTunes.
