For nurse Kelly Parkinson, it brought a whole new meaning to the phrase "going under the knife".
The mum-of-two put her life in the hands of a blindfolded knife thrower.

And, to add to the danger, the man throwing the sharp knives was Britain's Got Talent reject Brian Webber, from Leyland, who was slammed by judges on the ITV1 show for almost "murdering" his daughter.

Kelly, 31, of Lea, is a renal nurse at the Royal Preston Hospital, but is leaving her job to become a community district nurse.

As a parting gesture, she willingly became a sitting duck to raise money for staff and patients in the renal unit.

This was the first time Brian – who dresses up as Native American Chief Little Firewater – had performed the act with a member of the public while blindfolded, and he had to rely on Kelly for directions on where to throw the knives at the Regal Snooker Club in Preston .

Kelly said: "It was fantastic, he did get quite close though. I was terrified and people in there were saying, 'Kelly, you can't do it'."

Brian appeared on Britain's Got Talent last year throwing flaming knives at his 23-year-old daughter Melanie.

Judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden buzzed him off almost immediately, fearing he was going to hit his daughter after his knives missed their targets and one flew off and skidded around the stage.

Kelly has so far raised around £150.
