Robert Forster: THE founding member of The Go-Betweens will perform live as part of Lancaster Library's award-winning Get It Loud in Libraries tonight (Wednesday, September 24).
On a mini-tour including Dublin, Glasgow, London and Manchester, Robert Forster will stop off in Lancaster to play songs from his new album 'The Evangelist'.

It'll be Robert's first UK tour since the death of Grant McLennan – his writing partner of 25 years.

Forster will be accompanied by fellow Go-Betweens, bassist Adele Pickvance and drummer Glen Thompson.

For more details, go to myspace.com/getitloudinlibraries.

Tickets for the all-ages show cost £12.50 each and are available by calling Lancaster Library on 01524 580700 or via seetickets.com

Guillemots
ALL tickets have now been sold for the Guillemots' upcoming show at Lancaster Library.

After a triumphant summer of festivals and four dates with REM, Guillemots will perform live at the venue on November 15.

As well as theatres and concert halls, the Brit and Mercury-nominated quartet will perform in a Cornish cave, a converted cinema right in the heart of Edinburgh and, of course, Lancaster Library.

Led by Fyfe Dangerfield and featuring the talents of Magrao, Aristazabal Hawkes and Greig Stewart, Guillemots are one of the most inventive voices in UK pop.

In addition to their full UK tour, the band headline Orange Rockcorps at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Busta Rhymes later this month.

As well as the main Guillemots set The 'Fishbone For A Drink' tour also reunites the band with film events company Future Shorts. Building on their successful re-scoring of David Lynch's 'Eraserhead' at this year's Latitude Festival, each show will commence with a selection of short films re-scored live by the band – adding an entirely new audiovisual dimension to the Guillemots live experience.
Doors open around 7pm.

Glasvegas
NME favourites Glasvegas will perform live at Preston's 53 Degrees on Wednesday, December 10.

The Glaswegian four-piece play the venue fresh from a sell-out September tour and a slot at this summer's Kendal Calling festival.

Described by Alan McGee in the Guardian as "the defining band of the noughties", Glasvegas have so far wowed fans with hits 'Daddy's Gone', 'Geraldine', and 'It's my Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry'.

Advance tickets are £12 each plus booking fee and are available from 53degrees.net, seetickets.com or the 24-hour hotline on 0871 220 0260.

Rachel Unthank and the Winterset
LANCASTER'S LAWM collective have pulled off a major coup – by booking Mercury Music Prize nominated Rachel Unthank and the Winterset.

Performing live at Lancaster's Yorkshire House on Tuesday, November 25, the Northumberland-based folk band, whose album 'The Bairns' was nominated for the top music accolade, will be joined by Dan Haywood's New Hawks and Fran Rodgers. The Bairns has been described as 'utterly gorgeous' by The Guardian and 'a work of towering quality' by The Telegraph.
