Stating that "Citizen Kane" consistently wins the status of best picture of all time in the opinion of anyone polled is just plain untrue. On both IMDB.com and rottentomatoes.com, both reputable movie sites (well, as reputable as websites can be), Citizen Kane isn't even in the top 20 movies as decided by readers. Just because you may think a movie is clearly better than all other movies ever produced does not mean everyone agrees with you. Look at the box office success of "Titanic" if you don't believe me.

RoBotkin- Just because a film is popular doesn't mean it is any good. For example, while an impressive technical achievement, I thought Titanic stunk on ice as a movie. IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes have a lot of people voting that wouldn't know a decent film if it bit them on the rear.

Citizen Kane was literally "robbed" because it would have won, if not for the efforts of Randolph Hearst. Kane is a better film, even decades later than more than half of the films on that list. In fact, the only film on that one, and there are some good ones on there, that I might be able to defend as being better than Kane is Strangelove, but I have always been partial to Kubrick.
