AFTER last year's bad weather experience, Limelights productions are crossing all fingers and toes hoping this year's Panto in the Park does not become 'Cinderwelly!
This year's production of 'Cinderella' is the company's fifth
annual panto at Happy Mount Park in Morecambe (performances from July 28 to August 2 at 6.30pm) and it's getting more popular year after year.
'Cinderella' has been written by Simon Kay who also takes the part of Buttons.
"I was delighted to be asked again to direct and write this year's panto and its been great fun rehearsing for the show," said Simon.
"We are all praying for good weather as we were so unlucky last year. It poured down!"
Martin Shenton, chairman of Limelights, is taking a break from stunts this year and is facing his biggest challenge yet – wearing a frock!
Yes, the TV and film stunt man can be seen flouncing around Happy Mount Park as an Ugly Sister in this year's production – and he's enjoying it a little too much!
The dedicated cast return with the usual faces of Emily Schofield as Cinders, Claire Riley as the other Ugly Sister, Wendy Myers as the Evil Stepmother, Bryan Wood as the Fairy Godfather, Jenny Kay as Prince Charming, Malcolm O'Neil as Arthur and the cast welcomes John Atkinson as King Prawn and Emma Nixon as Dandini.
The company performed Jack and the Beanstalk in the Winter Gardens in January – the first show performed in the theatre for 30 years, and the cast hope to perform Cinderella in the theatre this Christmas.
Tickets are on sale at the Tourist Information Office on 01524 582803.
