Bottlenecks, The Royal Bar, Morecambe, August 21
BOTTLENECKS fans were promised "a night of pure hedonism" at Morecambe's The Royal Bar – and that's what they got.
Crowds crammed into the promenade pub to see Bottlenecks members, past and present, perform live for the band's tenth anniversary. And what a reunion show it was.
With past members turning up from as far away as London, fans in the resort witnessed a rare treat.
A set by the Morecambe band's current line-up kick-started the night with long-haired rocker Simon Thornton taking lead vocals. An absolute photographer's dream, Simon strutted his way about the humble stage like a true pro, at one point pausing to take a snap of the crowd.
It's a wonder the poor lad didn't pull a muscle as he leaped and lunged about the venue, his flowing golden locks lapping at his face.
Lead vocals were later taken up by ex-frontman Daniel Baxendale, also joined by twin brother John on bass.
Famous face Paul 'The Rev' James, formerly of Towers of London and The Prodigy, made the journey from London to join his old bandmates on guitar later in the night.
Playing a mix of their old originals and some 80s rock classics including tracks by Guns n Roses, Kiss, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Lynrd Skynrd, the bandmates played a fitting reunion show.
Raaaaawk and roll heaven!
"A massive thanks to everyone who turned up for the reunion," said an exhausted Simon after the event.
"It was a special night for us, made all the more enjoyable by the overwhelming number of people who showed their support."
