Blackpool Grand Theatre
A WARNING to get damp proof work done, a gas fire checked and smelly drains sorted out were just some of the messages received from the spirit world last night courtesy of TV psychic Derek Acorah.
The slick, silver haired Liverpudlian filled the Gra
nd Theatre as he made a popular
return visit to the town. He arrived on stage accompanied by blue and pink flashing lights and decidedly unspiritual techno music – but the mood soon changed when the first session began.
The house lights were brought up and with the help of Sam, Mr Acorah's spirit guide, soon spirits were "communicating" with loved ones to varied reactions. Some people who recognised names were wide eyed with fear as the camera turned on them while other people eyes simply filled with tears as they received what were entirely messages of good will (or DIY advice).
There were moving moments – one lady who had worked at an old people's home
received a particularly loving message from a former resident. The evening was laced with humour too as Mr Acorah's easy charm kept the evening light-hearted.
There were cringe-worthy parts where no connection could be found to the spirits on stage on there was a promise of "spiritual flowers" being delivered from the other side. Despite this however, Derek Acorah's warmth, compassion and wit make it an
enjoyable evening that would be fascinating to even the most steadfast sceptic.
