Vikings, gecko, snakes and sword fighting are not the most common of sights in Penwortham these days.
But that all changed at the Green Fair held by the Penwortham Environmental Centre to celebrate 10 years of environmental education.

The centre put on a fantastic show where hundreds of people took part in pond-dipping as well as drop-in sessions with animals such as tropical gecko, snakes and hedgehogs.

Children were met by Viking villagers and learned how to cook traditional Norse food.

A spokesman for the centre said: "I'm really pleased with how it went, the children enjoyed seeing the animals."

Lancashire Wildlife Trust would like to thank the Green Partnership awards for their kind support of this event - without them we wouldn't have had half of the attractions!
We'd also like to thank National Grid plc for their ongoing support of the centre.
