A Lancashire high school is to develop links with a school from the Czech Republic.
Southlands High School is initially going to form sporting ties with the school in Pisek, 100km south of Prague.
The Chorley school's talented sports performers will take part in an exchange to work with coaches and players from Pisek.
Southlan
ds headteacher Mark Fowle and assistant head Alan Thomas had recently visited the school to mark the start of the link.
Mr Fowle said: "This link should offer an exciting opportunity for our pupils to learn about a different culture, make new friends and enhance their educational experience and achievement.
"It was very interesting to be able to compare our two systems. The Czech Republic has a Grammar and Technical School structure.
"The pupils there are very keen to learn and improve and they have access to the very latest technology to support their learning.
"There are some interesting cultural differences, for example, pupils do not have to wear school uniform also the Christmas dinner that is traditionally eaten in the Czech Republic consists of fried carp and potato salad."
Southlands was asked by the Youth Sport Trust to develop links with the school.
