A Preston schoolboy has received national recognition for his performance while on work experience.
Stephen Edwards, a pupil at Archbishop Temple School, is one of only six students from Lancashire to be nominated for the prestigious national McDonalds Work Experience Award.

Stephen spent two weeks working at BAE Systems in Samlesbury working on the Typhoon combat aircraft programme.

During his time with the team he left a lasting impression because of his excellent attention to detail, innovative solutions and high level of enthusiasm.

He was nominated for the award by the Lancashire Education Business Partnership.

Work-based development manager Emma Woan said: "We are very pleased with the ongoing success of our work experience programme in Lancashire and are thrilled that Stephen has been nominated for the award.

"We continually strive to engage young people with industry-based learning opportunities and without the support of employers this wouldn't be possible."
