Councillors of the future met with Preston's mayor Coun Christine Abram at a visit to the town hall.
Coun Abram gave members of St Mary's Catholic Primary School's council a tour of the council chambers and the mayor's parlour.

Coun Abram, who is also a school governor, was told about the role of school councillors and of the ideas and improvements the school have made directly from the school council's suggestions.

Headteacher Rachel Kilner said: "The children in the school council are elected representatives of each year group.

"It was very interesting for the children to see where Preston council hold their meetings. It was also a good opportunity for them to learn about the history of our city."
