Apprentices in floristry had a chance to improve their skills with a series of masterclasses at Myerscough College.
At the end of the course, which was funded by the Learning and Skills Council, there was a £25 prize for the best piece, which was won by Rose Ireland, 16, for a stunning wrist corsage.

Fiona McDowell, a tutor in work-based floristry, said: "The class went very well and all the apprentices produced some excellent pieces.

"This is a totally unique programme bringing top apprentices together with the best training providers in the UK and leading employers.

"Between us we are ensuring that we are sharing and passing on the best skills in the industry to learners. We are very proud to be part of this initiative."
