Work has started on a £2.6m new training school for dentists at Preston’s university.
The dental practice will be based on the ground floor of Harrington building on the University of Central Lancashire’s city centre campus.
It will house a teaching clinic, four dental surgeries, two oral surgeries, X-ray room, a waiting area and various ancillary rooms.
A UCLan spokesman said it hoped to have the facility open by the autumn as a training clinic for its dentistry students.
He said: “The new development will bring huge benefits, particularly to our postgraduate students but also to all the staff, students and community.”
Designs for the facility were drawn up by Preston architects Cassidy and Ashton and the work is led by Bamber Bridge-based Conlon Construction.
