Students in cancer boost
generous: Students at Fulwood Academy raised cash
kindhearted students from Fulwood Academy in Preston supported the Rosemere Cancer Foundation by holding a series of fundraising events throughout the year.
The pupils’ ventures managed to rake in an impressive £750 for the cancer charity, which is based at the Royal Preston Hospital.
All the events took place within the school and included the traditional cake sales and non-uniform days, as well as “sock it to Santa” where students filled their old socks with loose change.
A presentation was made to Rosemere’s Laura Stephenson, area fundraising co-ordinator for Blackpool, the Fylde Coast and Preston at a special assembly.
Laura said: “The team at Rosemere are all really touched by the great fundraising efforts by the pupils at Fulwood Academy.
“This money will go towards ensuring cancer patients in Lancashire and South Cumbria are able to be treated as close to home as possible in our network of cancer units and remain as comfortable as possible throughout their treatment.”
Frank Berry, pupil and senior house leader for Warren House said: “At Fulwood we feel that raising money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation not only helps those less fortunate than ourselves, but brings us together as a house.
“Rosemere Cancer is also a good charity as cancer effects someone either directly or indirectly at some point in their lives and it seems fitting that everyone should benefit from the works of their local charity.”
