Scheme: The People Power Campaign during the Citizen Zone vans visit to the Deepdale Retail Park

Shoppers in Preston have been finding out more about a scheme that could help them save money on their bills.

Preston Council’s Citizen Zone vehicle visited Deepdale Retail Park on Saturday. People were given advice about a  collective  energy called People  Power.

People Power has been launched across Lancashire by 13 councils and, if the target of 15,000 residents sign up to the scheme, it could potentially save more than £3million for those collectively involved.

Residents  are  being  urged  to  review  their  bills  and  combine their purchasing power to ensure they get the best  deal  possible.

Coun Matthew Brown, cabinet member for community engagement, said: “So far nearly 4,000 people have registered and, with energy bills continuing to rise, I would encourage everyone to register for this scheme, and register friends and family too at www.people power.co.uk.

“As a result, we can all drive down the price of energy bills.”
