New director vows to strengthen troubled trust
Prof Anne Garden, a new non-executive director at Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust
A new director at Morecambe Bay Hospitals trust has pledged to help put the organisation on a stronger footing.
Prof Anne Garden has been appointed as a new non-executive director from Lancaster University’s faculty of health and medicine.
The hospital trust, which runs hospitals including Royal Lancaster Infirmary, has been under investigation following a number of baby deaths and concerns were also expressed about emergency care.
Prof Garden said: “These are challenging times for the trust, but I am committed to doing what I can to help set the trust on a strong footing and strengthen its links with the faculty of health and medicine at Lancaster University so that together, we can develop quality health services for this area.”
Prof Garden is currently head of Lancaster Medical School in the faculty of health and medicine at Lancaster University and continues her clinical work in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
Ian Tomlinson, acting chairman, said: “We very much welcome Anne’s arrival to the trust board.”
