More money for council homes

West Lancashire Council has been awarded an additional £393,000 of New Homes Bonus grant by the Government.

This scheme aims to reward local authorities that promote and welcome growth.

The New Homes Bonus funding is based on the extra Council Tax revenue generated from new homes being built. With this extra cash, the council will receive a total of £612,000 through the New Homes bonus scheme for the financial year 2013/14.

The money will be used to help the council provide better services and ensure that service levels are maintained.

The extra money has been calculated on more than 200 new homes being built, plus more than 100 long-term empty homes being brought back into use in the 12 months to October 2012.
