Housing plan appeal is postponed
Latest news
A planning appeal against the refusal of 270 houses and a GP surgery in the Ribble Valley has been postponed.
The four-day appeal by Gladman Developments Ltd was due to be heard in the Ribble Valley Council chamber by the Planning Inspectorate from yesterday.
But the inquiry into the work on land off Henthorn Road, Clitheroe, has been postponed due to the inspector being ill.
A new date for the inquiry will be announced in due course.
The development was refused by Ribble Valley Council last year, despite planning officers recommending the scheme be approved.
The development, which would border Clitheroe Camping and Caravanning Club, would feature a variety of detached and semi-detached properties with front gardens and hedgerows.
The site of the proposed development was highlighted for housing in Ribble Valley Council’s strategic plan.
But some councillors and residents raised major concerns over it, saying the development could put extra pressure on amenities including health services and schools.
