A fundraiser is pulling out all the stops for Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s Valentine’s Appeal by organising a Grand Event of Olympic proportions.

Norma Blackburn, from Penwortham, who has helped Rosemere by helping at various events in the past, has decided that to stage another fundraiser during the charity’s Valentine’s Appeal.

Last year Norma raised over £1,200 from her own fundraising event at the same location, and this year is set to be even better.

The Valentine’s Appeal, now in its third year, is a month long campaign that aims to raise £30,000 of vital funds for additional facilities and equipment for cancer patients across the region. Various awareness raising and fundraising events will take place across the region with local volunteers helping to make it happen.

The ‘Grand Event’ is taking place on Saturday, February 23 from 10.30am until 1.30pm at St Leonard’s church hall in Penwortham.

Entrants will be treated to a range of stalls, with a good as new sale, cards, jewellery and craft items for sale. There will also be a tombola, cakes, refreshments and much more.

Norma has also secured a very special guest, with local Olympic Torch bearer Dave Gilmore coming along to display his Olympic Torch, giving people the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the historic torch. Pictures can be printed and purchased on the day courtesy of Mattefinish in Leyland.

Laura Stephenson, area fundraising coordinator for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “Norma is the one of our best volunteers, supporting Rosemere at a number of events. We are delighted that she has decided to organise her own fundraiser once again and I know that her enthusiasm will make it a huge success.”
