Fairtrade in church event

Fylde Fairtrade Steering Group is preparing for this year’s Fairtrade fortnight with a host of events.

A Malian cotton farmer is among those who will be speaking at events, which will take place between February 27 and March 2.

The Rev Glyn Eatock, chairman of the group, said: “We are thrilled to be able to host such an exciting celebration here in Fylde.

“We have been a Fairtrade borough now since 2008 and have been delighted by the number of shops and businesses who have come on board and now sell or use Fairtrade products. This has been driven by the demands of local people who have shown their support by asking for Fairtrade products. The local schools and churches have surpassed themselves in their efforts to promote fair trading.”
