After: Sylvia and Eric Curtis after losing nine stones between them

A husband and wife team from Preston who took up the challenge of battling the bulge together have lost nine stones between them.

Sylvia and Eric Curtis, both 60, from Lea, have shed a total of 126lb in around 18 months.

The couple, who have been married for more than 40 years and have three children and six grandchildren, joined a Weight Watchers class after getting fed up with faddy diets and being unable to go to the gym because of Eric’s health.

Eric used to weigh 18 and a half stone and is now 14 and a half stone - but still wants to lose another stone.

And Sylvia used to weigh 16 stones one lb and she is now 11 stones one lb.

Sylvia said: “I feel great and can walk, exercise and run as good as anyone else.

“I was a diabetic on tablets and had a high glucose reading but now it’s low or normal and my cholesterol is low too.

“I don’t have a problem with high blood pressure anymore either.

“I share everything with my husband so it was no problem to share this, we are on the same wave, he retired two years ago and now is fitter and healthier than ever despite two heart attacks, a knee and hip replacement.

Weight Watchers leader Kim Robinson said: “I am so proud of Sylvia and Eric.”
