Eco-minded pupils are appealing for community help with their new garden.

Youngsters at Oakfield House School are hoping locals will lend a hand to kick-start the project next week.

They have already come up with a list of innovative designs, which they hope will help them to achieve the Eco School Green Flag award.

Some of the ideas submitted so far include a tyre swing, a pond walkway and a sensory area, as well as seating.

Anyone who is able to volunteer is invited to go along to the school on Station Road, Salwick, near Preston on Tuesday.

The work will take place between 10am and 2pm.

Soup and sandwiches will be provided but volunteers should bring along garden tools such as spades, forks and trowels.
