Baring it all: Des Grant with his Full Monty team

A popular Preston DJ will be revealing all at a comedy night in aid of the Katy Holmes Trust.

Des Grant, of Walton-le-Dale, near Preston, will be teaming up with some of his friends to perform a Fully Monty show at a comedy night being held to boost funds into brain tumour research.

The event being billed as Katy’s Comedy Night has been organised by Katy’s mum Paula and Sandra Connolly, of Broadgate, Preston, who has organised a number of fundraising variety nights over the years.

Paula, of Margaret Road, Penwortham, said: “I had heard a whisper that Des Grant had taken part in Full Monty shows in the past and as a joke, I said over Facebook that he should do another one.

“Sandra then came up with the idea of turning it into a comedy night with all proceeds going to the Katy Holmes Trust and it all snowballed from there.

“We have now had comedians come forward who are donating their time for free and we are thrilled that so many people are supporting the night.

“We are very grateful to Des Grant and his friends for being so brave and to Sandra for turning a bit of a joke into reality.

“The anniversary of when Katy was first diagnosed with her brain tumour is approaching, so it is a difficult time for all the family.

“Having a comedy night will be good for us as it will lift our spirits and give us something to giggle about.”

The comedy night will be held at the BAC Club on South Meadow Lane, Broadgate, Preston on Friday November 9.

As well as the Full Monty Show, there will be comedy from Lewis Jones, Nina Gilligan and Russ Bland.

Des Grant, who lost his own daughter Melanie to a brain tumour, said: “I have been railroaded into this! Someone made a comment on Facebook and suddenly tickets are now being sold!

“I have got less than six weeks to lose one-and-a-half stones.

“Seriously, we are happy to do it as it is for such a good cause and I hope we raise lots of money.”

Tickets are £10 each and can be obtained by calling 01772 490718.
