Preston’s military families were invited to a special coffee afternoon in aid of The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2012.

Staff at the Sainsburys supermarket on Flintoff Way, Preston welcomed the families to the store’s customer restaurant on Thursday, prior to the weekend’s Remembrance services.

Sainsbury’s Preston Store Manager Mark Fitzgerald added: “We’re proud to have supported The Royal British Legion for over 20 years through hosting collections and poppy sales.

“This year we were honoured to be able to contribute further and recognise local military families by bringing them together and raising the profile of this hugely important cause.”

Guests enjoyed a selection of snacks, coffee, tea and cold drinks, while being given an opportunity to get together over the poignant weekend at the first event that the store has invited military families along to.

Charles Byrne, Director of National Events and Fundraising said: “This is a great way to stand shoulder to shoulder with our Armed Forces families in Preston”.
