Chrissie offers a reward for pet that saved her life
Search: Charlie
A search is on for a heroic hound that once saved the life of its owner.
Nine-year-old springer spaniel Charlie disappeared at midday on Sunday, October 14.
His owner Chrissie Gladwin lives on a canal boat on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, near Rawlinson Lane, Heath Charnock.
Neutered Charlie, who is white with liver markings and a blue collar, went missing from a fenced canal garden next to the A6 in Heath Charnock. Chrissie has put out a poster appeal for her pet and has offered a reward.
She said; “He saved my life when I fell through the ice a couple of years ago when I used to have my boat moored at Glasson Dock. I was stepping onto the boat and slipped on the icy gunnels into the water. The water was so cold I felt warm and drowsy and thought I’m not going to get out of here and started shouting for help.
“That alerted the dog who took off immediately and ran round the basin into the village, which is a route we didn’t used to walk, and barked persistently at some fishermen and brought them back to where I was floundering in the ice. They plucked me out of the water. I wouldn’t have got out - there’s no ladders in there.”
If anyone sees Charlie they can ring her on 07791 038759.
