Beaver boys say it with flowers
FLOWER POWER: Beaver Scouts from 6th Penwortham
A group of green-fingered Beaver Scouts planted flowers to brighten up the grounds of a Penwortham church.
The 6th Penwortham group, which meets at the Scout hut at St Mary’s Church, Cop Lane, planted pansies and bedding plants given to them by Coxhead Nurseries, Chainhouse Lane, Whitestake.
Lorraine Needham, Beaver leader, said: “We have been given a raised bed by the warden of the church.
“They loved it and the weather was kind. It was a success.”
The 17 six to eight-year-olds will now tend to the bed and plant more flowers.
Lorraine added: “We need to go back as we ran out of time. Every couple of weeks we are going to have to go and do a bit more.”
