Awards night for top youths

Young people who have made a big contribution to the community will be treated at a glittering awards ceremony on Monday night.

Lancashire’s ‘Celebrate Youth’ event, organised by Lancashire County Council’s young people’s service is being held at Park Hall, Charnock Richard in Chorley.

During the evening, six young people will be receive awards at the ceremony, which will be compered by Ali Kahn, company director at Big Comedy Shop.

Ali will be assisted by a young person who has won the competition to co-present the ceremony.

Three other young people who entered the talent competition will also help with presenting during the evening.

County Councillor Mark Perks, Cabinet Member for Young People, said:“Celebrate Youth really has captured everyone’s imagination – especially the hundreds of young people who have got involved either in helping to organise the event, nominate people for an award or wanting to take part during the evening.

“But for me, the most impressive thing of all is reading through the nominations. They really do show the extent to which the county is benefiting from young people’s active participation in the community.

“I’m very much looking forward to the awards ceremony and to meeting the young people themselves. I’m also looking forward to hearing what the former captain of the England blind football team, Dave Clarke, and Graeme Ballard, who’s won medals at the Paralympics, have to say.”

Text voting will see the audience and people watching a live stream vote for the pinnacle award winner. Twelve youth clubs are opening on the night for their members to watch a live stream .
