Watch video report from the march
More than 200 protestors marched through Leyland to fight against plans to build a huge waste tip close to their homes.
The campaigners marched to South Ribble Council, where councillors on the planning committee agreed to unaminously reject the scheme.
However the planned Leyland Waste Technology Park could still go ahead as the final decision rests with Lancashire County Council. The scheme is currently recommended for approval.
The marchers braved driving rain to take their protest to South Ribble's council offices in West Paddock, Leyland.
The march, organised by protest group, Residents Against Waste Site (RAWS), was to show the strong opposition to the plant, to be built on the old Leyland Motors test track, at the Lancashire Business Park, Centurion Way, Farington Moss, Leyland.
A group from RAWS gave a presentation to the meeting outlining why they want to stop the plant as protesters joined them in the council chamber.
