Preston Council’s latest grime busting campaign to tackle dog fouling has taken to the parks and streets this week with the help of a team of community conscious residents from Fulwood.
The ‘Canine Volunteers’ campaign is being piloted in the Fulwood area and is made up of residents who have joined forces to try to eradicate dog fouling in their area together with Preston Council’s Dog Welfare and Clean Environment teams.
The ‘POOch’ Patrol began operating in the Fulwood area from September 5 and plans are already in place to extend the scheme into other areas.
Garrison Coun Jennifer Greenhalgh, said: “This is an important issue which has been raised regularly at PACT meetings all over Preston, and I am delighted that members of the community are working with the council and we hope this hands-on approach will improve matters. Catching irresponsible dog owners can be difficult but dog walkers know who the offenders are as they often walk their dogs around the same places.”
