Like it says on the tin, Tell me a Poem is where readers can submit their own poems as text and audio files for publication here.
To add an element of fun we have included a web vote, where every week people can vote for their favourite poem - and the poem with the most votes will be published in the Lancashire Evening Post, Week Ahead supplement, the following Saturday.
Tell me a Poem came about after conversations with a group called the Preston Poets' Society, who, as a very active group, have provided many of the poems that helped to launch this feature.
But even before those conversations, the idea for a Poet's corner was brought up on many occasions and by many keen poets in the community who have at one time or another submitted poems for publication in the Lancashire Evening Post.
So now, taking them at their word, we are hoping that many of them and many of you will take up the challenge by sending in poems - but also, read, listen to and enjoy the poems of others published here - as your votes do count (The weekly vote opens on Monday, and closes on the following Monday).
